Our new permanent location and literacy

I am happy to report the Rotary Board has voted and decided to stay at the Lancaster Country Club for our weekly meetings. The Country Club is being very accommodating to our needs. We are working on ideas for the best configuration of the room to promote seeing and hearing during our meetings. We will work on this for the next few weeks. During this time please feel free to move your chair to a spot that is advantageous to you.

September is Rotary Literacy month. Our club has been supportive of literacy in the Lancaster area for years. I feel all children should have the opportunity to learn to read. Life success is directly connected to knowing how to read. Our club's District Grant project this year is to purchase iPad minis for the West After School Centers. We will have a special time to gather and share with some of the kids as they use their new iPads. Watch for the opportunity to be involved. We are also working on volunteer opportunities to help students attending Lancaster City Schools with literacy activities.  We will have more information for you in the future. Think about giving a little of your time to share the joy of reading with a child.

Thank you to all the Rotary members who have donated to the Rotary Foundation. We are getting closer to our goal every week. November is Foundation month, and this Rotary year if you donate between July 1, 2015 and November 30, 2015 to the Annual Fund you will have the opportunity to draw a chip out of a hat. These chips will have a value to $25.00, $50.00, $75.00 and $100.00 to be added towards your Paul Harris Fellow. So consider being a part of this project to help Rotary International continue doing all the wonderful things it does.

Be a Gift to the World!
